Just started and idle-time is 211 days!??

Post by Jozsef Kadlecs » Thu, 06 Oct 1994 18:09:34

Hi,

On our Solaris 2.3, if somebody is logged in from an X-terminal,
his/her most recently started process is displayed by 'w' as idle since
211 days!!

szalay   pts/28        9:22am211days     29      9  /usr/openwin/bin/cmdtool

What's buggy here? Is there a patch for this?

Thanks your help,
Jozsef Kadlecsik

1. AIX 4.3.2 msg: sar: 0551-211 Specify a positive integer for the time change.

Hi,

I have chekced this message out in the "Messages Guide & Reference",
but the data is definitely being generated on the same machine - at the
same Operating system level.   This sounds a bit like a bug.   Does anyone
know of a fix for this?

Here's a more complete output listing:-

$ sar -u

AIX a000403 3 4 003106264C00    01/01/70

11:00:00    %usr    %sys    %wio   %idle

rc(inside tdiff) = -1

Average        0       0      99       0

I noticed that the first line started out with the correct date
but then reverted upon the next "/var/adm/sa/sa1" call, to
01/01/70.
