Need help with pwd and cd../ problem

Post by spar » Fri, 04 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Im running solaris 2.4 and have a real buggy problem with one partition
/opt.
when i cd into /opt and do a pwd "can't determine current working
directory" is returned. When I do a cd ../ "permission denied" is returned.
When I truss cd ../ I get error 13 EACCES 'can't stat cd ../ ..

Can anyone tell me what causes this and how to fix it?

thanx

Unmount the directory and change the mode of the underlying mountpoint:

umount /opt (if this fails, you need to start kill processes,
or boot into single user mode)

        chmod 755   /opt

Check using ls -ld /opt to see the permissions.  Also check if it is
automounted.  I've seen this before when a directory was automounted
incorrectly.  Let me know how you get on...

1. How to get "cd dir" working as "cd dir ; pwd"?

Dear Friends,

I use the sgi csh. I was wondering how to alias command "cd" which
can be performed as typing "cd dir ; pwd". The good thing is that
I will immidiately know which direction I am after I type command
"cd dir" without typing "pwd" again.

Thanks in advance.
