NGROUPS_MAX

Post by Alfonso Mayorg » Sat, 02 Aug 1997 04:00:00

Hi,
I have users that need be in more that 16 groups, but solaris limits the
number to 16.
I tried adding "set ngroups_max=128" in /etc/systems but it did not
work.
Could anybody help me ?
Thanks

By default Solaris sets ngroups_max to be 16.  It allows you to set it
to any value between 0 and 32.  128 is too large.

Be warned, if you set ngroups_max over 16 NFS will not work due to
protocol limitations.

1. increasing NGROUPS_MAX

Hi!

To increase the number of groups a user can be in I tried to set
NGROUPS_MAX in include/linux/limits.h to 128 and recompiled libc.
Unfortunatelly this didn't work. Has anybody experience in increasing
NGROUPS_MAX? Which other programs do I have to recompile?

Or is there perhaps another way of changing this limit?

Thanks,
 Claude
