Hello.

I have the following problem,

my machine (NIS server, but not a mailhost) is called zeus (Sun
Ultra1/Solaris2.6) but I would like
that the mail adresses were "gat.univ-lille1.fr" instead of
"zeus.univ-lille1.fr".  "gat is an alias for "zeus"

Presently both on the  NIS server and on the clients the outgoing
mail picks up the address "zeus.univ-lille1.fr";  for incoming mail
the address is given by the hostname.

I have hacked with the sendmail.cf for what I can understand of it but
I believe that the problem lies with
mail.local and the way that mail.local
gets the From field from the envelope of a message.

The problem has appeared after the upgrade from 2.5.1 to 2.6.

Any clue will greatly apprecieted. Here is my sendmail.cf (there is no
/etc/sendmailvars)

1. mail sendmail sendmail.cf problems

I have been trying to configure this Sparc Server 1000.
The major problme I have is :
when I send a mail to a different machine, it drops the
complete hostname in the From: address. As a result the recipients
can not do a 'reply'.

OS: Solaris2.3

Attempted solutions on sendmail.cf
1. Commented out line: Dj$w.$m
2. Added line Dwcceb.med.upenn.edu (which is my machines full address)

This seemed to have solved the problem, if the sender is root.
But for all other users, the mail goes out without the full
sender's address.
It goes as
user.cceb
instead of
user.cceb.med.upenn.edu

Please help.
