Which file(s) tell solaris where to find your forward and reverse lookup
files for DNS?  I have found all the required files in /var/named but I
don't know how to tell solaris which ones to use .  Please help.
Thanks

In general, this is done in your named.conf, usually in /etc.

1. What are these DNS files for?

I'm using bind 9.2.1, and have found hundreds of files with
different extensions in /var/named which look like:

sim:/var/named> ls -l *.a*|head
-rw-r--r--   1 root       sys              0 Feb 11 05:59  db.12.9.71.128.a00100
-rw-r--r--   1 root       sys              0 Feb 13 19:54  db.12.9.71.128.a00110
-rw-r--r--   1 root       sys              0 Jan  3 05:21   db.12.9.71.128.a00111
-rw-r--r--   1 root       sys              0 Dec 31 17:57  db.12.9.71.128.a00112

Why are these files being created?  What are they for?

-Thanks
