I'm trying to get our license manager daemon (FLEXlm) up
and running for Matlab, Sun FORTRAN and PV-WAVE. After
reading some documentation (manual pages) and scripts
that come with the various packages I still don't
understand exactly the way FLEXlm works. And it seems
that every package has a different version of FLEXlm.
Question: First of all, is there a manual for FLEXlm which
explains file formats and the way FLEXlm works?
Question: Which version do I have to use? I have version
2.4 and 2.61 of FLEXlm.
Question: Can I run the main daemon (lmgrd) on one host
while the vendor daemons run on other hosts
or do I have to run them all on one machine?
I managed to get FLEXlm running for PV-WAVE and Matlab
(lm version 2.4) but it complains about the license info
for the Sun FORTRAN Compiler. In the log file it writes:
11/23 22:10:35 (suntechd) Server started on tsunami
11/23 22:10:35 (suntechd) No features to serve!
11/23 22:10:35 (lmgrd) suntechd daemon found no features. Please correct
11/23 22:10:35 (lmgrd) license file and re-start daemons
11/23 22:10:35 (lmgrd)
11/23 22:10:35 (lmgrd) This may be due to the fact that you are using
11/23 22:10:35 (lmgrd) a different license file from the one you expect.
11/23 22:10:35 (lmgrd) Check to make sure that:
11/23 22:10:35 (lmgrd) "/usr/tmp/lm_TMW4.dat"
11/23 22:10:35 (lmgrd) is the license file you want to use.
The license file does not contain any FEATURE lines for suntechd.
Instead of 'FEATURE etc..' it says 'INCREMENT etc...". So, it's quite
understandable that there are 'no features to serve'.
Question: What's the real problem here? Am I using a deamon (lm 2.4)
which is too old?
Question: Is there any documentation which explains how to merge
license info of different packages into one big license file?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
