Help: Config PPP / Solstice PPP

Post by M. Ca » Tue, 07 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

Please tell me how to config Solaris 2.5 as a PPP client, so I
can connect with ISP. Is there any online document ?

I have heard Solstice PPP 3.0.1 will do this, but costy for self learning.
Do you have any idea where to download or try/buy program ?

Thanks
Tam

See http://www.stokely.com for pointers, other than that, see the
man pages.

Solstice PPP is free now, and is obtainable from
http://access1.sun.com/Products/solaris/ppp_301/

Or, my recommendation is the free pppd from
ftp://cs.anu.edu.au/pub/software/ppp
or from http://playground.sun.com/pppd for the latest version.

You may find http://www.kempston.net/solaris/connectanyisp.html
useful. The process described there works on Solaris 2.6 and later and
may be OK for 2.5 although I've not tried it on that release.  The
bundled asppp software was flaky in Solaris 2.5.

Solstice PPP is now available as a free download:

  http://access1.sun.com/Products/solaris/ppp_301/

but you'd need to check whether that version is compatible with 2.5.
