I have to create a mini partition on my EIDE drive containing the kernal
which will then boot the OS on another EIDE drive or a SCSI drive.

...but if you've got online disksuite then the filesystem can be
spread across many volumes. Worth considering as Solaris 2 workgroup/
enterprise server comes bundled with this package.
