How to change hostname on Sol. 7 and 8

Post by Jayesh Kamda » Fri, 22 Dec 2000 04:24:07

Hi,

I just moved a machine with Solaris 8 on it.  Since it needed new name
and IP addr.  I changed
/etc/hosts
/etc/defaultrouter
/etc/netmasks
/etc/hostname.hme0
and also did hostname <new_name>

But after reboot it comes up with old name, why ?  What did I miss ?  Is
it different in Solaris 8 ?  Please let me know.

Thanks,
Jayesh

You have to change the /etc/nodename file.

Philippe.

Look at /etc/nodename and change it there also.
