CDE 1.3 front panel customizations disappear

Post by Michel Kerszber » Tue, 16 Mar 1999 04:00:00

Hello,

I have upgraded from Sol 2.6 to 7. The upgrade software did a mixed job
at keeping my front panel customizations (all of them done with CDE
itself, i.e. resulting in some "ez" stuff written to
.dt/types/fp_dynamic). The upgrade deleted some of the stuff, more or
less at random. Since then, I cannot get the front panel correctly
customized. Every restart of CDE eliminates some customizations, or
items that are part of the default front panel (I have had to revert to
that one several times in the process). Any help? And, incidentally,
what is happening to http://docs.sun.com?

Thanks,

Michel.

It's a bug ... I filed it a few weeks ago.  If you reset it back to its
original state and work slowly and carefully, it can probably be made to
look like what you want.  Moving stuff up and down the list seems to cause
the problem.

1. Front Panel Clock design in CDE 1.3

Create a file ~/.dt/types/clock.fp that contains the following, and then
restart your workspace manager (right click on the desktop and go down
to the Windows menu):

CONTROL Clock
{
  TYPE                  clock
  CONTAINER_NAME        Top
  CONTAINER_TYPE        BOX
  POSITION_HINTS        1
  ICON                  Fpclock
  LABEL                 Clock
  PUSH_ACTION           WebBrowser
  DROP_ACTION           WebBrowser
  HELP_TOPIC            FPOnItemClock
  HELP_VOLUME           FPanel
