Post by Chris Ri » Sat, 13 May 1995 04:00:00

How do I get sendmail on Solaris 2.3/2.4 to use the NIS+ alias
database?

Thanks,

1. Sendmail 8.7 breaks Solaris 2.4 NIS+

Hi all,

If the following is verified by other people, it may be a
FAQ entry.

If you run (Solaris 2.4) AND (Sendmail 8.7)

you should have hosts entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf listing
hosts:  files dns nisplus

Else, sendmail will have trouble finding the hostname and
make very long to start up.

Now the problem : this nsswitch setup breaks nismkdir.
Error is : hostname must be fully qualified.

Fully qualified name does not work better.

Workaround :  you have to temporary change the order
of search in nsswitch.conf
