You know there are a bunch of games on the Companion CD that ships with
Solaris
MU2 and greater.  Not that Solaris or Linux make a good game machine to
begin with.
Always better to get the kids their own machine including when the kid
is yourself. :-))

1. Games and 'game mode indeterminate'

Hi,

I've been using RedHat-2.0.1, Accelerated X and fvwm for about a year.
A couple days ago, I thought I'd try to install the games that are
distributed with RedHat (Doom, abuse, tetris and probably some card and
video games) and very few of them work.  I don't have sound, but even
trying to run Doom as you're supposed to if you don't have sound gives
me the response

        game mode indeterminate

Mostly I get errors like

not running in graphics capable console

Pente works.  Xgammon works.  but not the rest.

Of course, everything else (even some intense graphics applications)
works just fine.  It's just games!

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks,

John
