Solaris 2.5 with the BIND patches are based the public BIND 4.9.3
release.  This is more stable and has less security holes than the
older bind that shipped with previous releases of Solaris.  Currently
there are no known security problems with BIND 4.9.3.

Solaris 2.6 might have a named that is based on the BIND 4.9.4.1
release, but it has not been decided on yet.

You should use the BIND 4.9.3 resolver libraries from the Solaris 2.5
DNS patches on http://www.sunsolve.com/ and the BIND 4.9.5 in.named
from ftp://ftp.vix.com/pub/bind/ (it's not at Berkeley anymore).
