Hi all
SORRY _ REPOST. Need to get Xview working ... I have installed X1R6.4,
and am using the
instructions given in the Xview Readme - without success...
Any ideas please

I am trying again to install Xview 3.2 on a SUN U1 with Solaris 7
I get the messages
# imake -DUseInstalled -I/usr/X11R6.4/lib/X11/config -I./config
"/export/home/Archive/xview3.2/config/XView.tmpl", line 198: macro _Use
redefines previous macro at "/usr/X11R6.4/lib/X11/config/Imake.rules",
line 257
when I run the imake as per the README

and if I make World without the imake get-

rm -f *.CKP *.ln *.BAK *.bak *.o core errs ,* *~ *.a .emacs_* tags TAGS
make.log MakeOut  "#"*
cleaning in ./images...
make: Fatal error in reader: Makefile, line 676: :/:: conflict for
target `all'
Current working directory /export/home/Archive/xview3.2/images
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `clean'
Current working directory /export/home/Archive/xview3.2
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `World'

at the end of the world.make file

I have set IMAKEINCLUDE to
-I/export/home/Archive/xview3.2/config -I/usr/X11R6.4/lib/X11/config

Any idea what's going on???? Thought this would be simple!!

Cheers
Dr. P

Is there some reason you can't use the Xview & X11R6.4 Sun provides for
Solaris 7?  (Xview is included in Solaris 7, X11R6.4 is included in
Solaris 7 11/99 and is available as patches for previous versions.)

Hi  Alan
    Thanks for your suggestion.
Just put Sol 7 on last week - didnt know Xview came on the disk - Will
take a look. I am still having the compile problems and running out of
ideas. I think this is a better solution...

Cheers

Look in /usr/openwin/share/include/xview/ &
/usr/openwin/lib/libxview.so.3 - they're included on all Solaris
releases up to and including 8, but Sun has declared them obsolete and
that they may not be included in future Solaris releases.
