Solaris 2.5: Missing /usr/include/sys/fbio.h ??

Post by Jeff Gorr » Sat, 03 Feb 1996 04:00:00

Good: Installed Solaris 2.5 (Sparc, IPC) and it has a lot of
nice features.

Bad: I chose the "customized" install and included package SUNWhea,
which is supposed to give all of the system include files. However,
I seem to be missing sys/fbio.h. Is fbio.h in a different package
or what?? Maybe they decided to stick it somewhere creative?

Can Justin be Saved? Please help.

Jeff

It's in SUNWdfbh

ie.
$ grep /usr/include/sys/fbio.h /var/sadm/install/contents
/usr/include/sys/fbio.h f none 0644 bin bin 9280 4636 814616234 SUNWdfbh
$ pkginfo -l SUNWdfbh

1. /usr/include vs /usr/include/sys

Hi,

I'm wondering why some header files are found in both /usr/include and
/usr/include/sys.  I get the feeling that the include files in the
/sys directory are more platform specific, is this correct?  For
example on AIX /usr/include/time.h specifies the nanosleep() function
as defined by POSIX, but /usr/include/sys/time.h doesn't (it does
however have an nsleep() function).  What gives?

Thanks.
