Sick sendmail on Solaris 2.3 (Me Too)

I'm having similar problems with the darn thing!!!
It gives me the error message about not being able to find the user via nis.  It seems
to be able to get mail out of the machine fine, and also deliver mail within itself,
(within the machine), but if I try to sendmail to the outside and back in (like sending
to an address that has the .forward straight back at me) it will spawn infinite
sendmail processes and thoroughly bog down the machine.  
        It appears as if mail bounces back and forth from the machine to the mailhost
before it gets a "too many hops" error and quits.

Have You looked into /etc/nsswitch.conf ?
Maybe the resolver looks only to nis mail.aliases and not to Your
/usr/etc/aliases...

1. Sick sendmail on Solaris 2.3

Hi.  I'm configuring a solaris 2.3 machine running NIS, and I'm having a
nasty problem with sendmail.  It's not accepting mail from our mail server,
and it's having problems resolving aliases.  Following is output from
a telnet to the mail port on the machine in question:
