try '/etc/init.d/dtlogin start'. If this doesn't work you haveQuote:> Start it manually?

|| right you are. that would be a typo....:-)Quote:>that would be 'dtconfig -e'
and shouldn't be necessary after a base install - dtlogin (CDE) should come
up by default.
|| right again! batting 1.000 !!
|| did that. didn't work.Quote:>> Start it manually?

If this works, but it doesn't autostart, look if "/etc/rc2.d/S99dtlogin"
exists. It should be a (hard)link
|| it did, and it was......Quote:>to /etc/init.d/dtlogin.
|| It didn't! but thanks for trying anyway. I tried all of this beforeQuote:>hth, mp.

That's almost as silly as Solaris not recognizing
new hardware ( frame buffer ) on a cold boot. Now,
if it were Sequent hardware.....<GG>
Thanks to all for help!
1. How to avoid bootup after dtconfig -e
I execute "/usr/dt/config/dtconfig -d" for disable on boot up or
"/usr/dt/config/dtconfig -e" for enable on boot up.
I have to boot up RS/6000 J50 after dtconfig -e it takes long time
(C11 some time saver).
Is there way to bringup full CDE after dtconfig -e without rebooting
the host?
(I think there should be a simple command, but I do not know that
command!).
Thanks,
VKG
