The -l option to ps shows the amount of virtual memory each process is
using.

Download the SE Toolkit and run toptool.se. Select Run->Mode->Top Users
from the pulldown menu. Then select Sort->User->By RSS from the pulldown
menu.

1. Memory used per process - pmem vs ps

HI all,

Testing some code, I saw that using for a process (to see how many
shared, private and total memory it use), using ps or pmen, the result
is different.
For an oracle process, the different on total memory can be 5 or 6
mega.

Can anyone explain me why and which one is more precise?

Thanks a lot.

Sergio
