Alteon Gigabit Ethernet Solaris 7 driver

Alteon Gigabit Ethernet Solaris 7 driver

Post by Choksi » Mon, 21 May 2001 09:25:21

Hi,

Does anybody know if there's an alteon ACEnic driver available for
solaris 7? Is the driver for Solaris 2.6 compatible with Solaris 7?
Where can I get a hold of it? I have what seems to be Alteon open
driver distribution (i.e. opendrv.tar.gz), which seems to has Solaris
2.6 driver source code inside. But, I have trouble compiling the
driver since there's no instruction on how to build and instll the
driver. Any advice is greatly apprecitated.

Alteon sold that Gigabit NIC to 3COM a while ago.  Don't know
if 3com has a Solaris 7 safe version or not, but it never
   hurts to ask.

The Alteon switches were sold to Nortel.

Hi,

We have a Sun E4500, Solaris 2.6, with a gigabit nic installed.

We have the switch port (Cisco 6500, i believe) set at 1000 fdx as
well.

The problem is this, inbound traffic gets only about a 6000 Kbytes/sec
rate, whereas the outbound goes at about 20000 Kbytes/sec.

Does anyone have any ideas why this would occur?  I've searched
Sunsolve and came up with nothing.

Thanks in advance,

Jamie
