sun.com unreachable <siamak@bigboy.West.Sun.COM>

Post by Thorsten La » Fri, 21 Apr 1995 04:00:00

For several weeks I have been unable to contact Siamak Nazari by
email. Apparently sun.barrnet.net (131.119.80.10) doesn't forward my
packets anymore (at least a traceroute to sun.com haengs at
sun.barrnet.net).

Anybody know, what's the problem?

Obviously.   Sun.COM shouldn't pass packages.  It will accept your
mail and forward it to the user in question.  Try

I'm afraid you got me wrong. The only mx for bigboy.west.sun.com is
sun.com. So mail to siamak should be delivered via sun.com. Now my
host can't connect to sun.com at port 25. A traceroute hangs at
sun.barrnet.net so I assume sun.barrnet,net doesn't forward my IP
Packets (Didn't say anything about sun.com nor forwarding packages).

www, ftp etc to sun from here are impossible, too.

Oh and don't try to answer by email. I just checked that the mx for
holland.sun.com is sun.com (129.9.9.1) also...

Sendmail on Sun.COM does appear to refuse connections from the internet
at this moment.  I did receive e-mail from the internet between your
last post and this one, so I suspect there's some intermittent failure
somewhere.

Or it's a load problem, sendmail is often configured refuse connections
if loads are to high: three minutes after I first tried, telnet sun.com
smtp from the internet works again.

Quote:>www, ftp etc to sun from here are impossible, too.

Sun.COM doesn't allow ftp/www.  Do www to WWW.Sun.COM and ftp
to, e.g., playground.sun.com work?
