Problems compiling GCC on Solaris 2.5.1

As the subject says, I'm having problems compiling gcc 2.7.2.1 on
Solaris 2.5.1.  I could go into detail as to what's the problem, but
there are many problems!!!

I'm using the SparcCompiler C++ 4.1.  I basically ran "configure" and
then typed "make".  It went for a little while, but then failed with
many many problems, some in various header files that came with
SparcCompiler.

I *really* don't want to use SparcCompiler.

Is there some trick that I'm not doing to get it to compile?

Better, can I get gcc binaries for Solaris 2.5.1?

Any help would be much apprectiated.

You  need to run configure (like you did), then type 'make bootstrap'.

If you read the 'INSTALL' document, it should describe this.

Are you using the C++ compiler to compile gcc?

That won't work.

Do you have a working C compiler?

A place to look for a working compiler is:

ftp://ftp.quintus.com/pub/GNU/2.5/sparc/

I used the files in there to build a compiler for 2.5.1 for gcc 2.7.2.

1. Problems compiling X under Solaris 2.4 with GCC 2.6.3

I'm trying to build X11R6 under Solaris 2.4 with GCC 2.6.3.  We are
trying to avoid any dependencies upon Sun's Sparcworks compiling
environment and therefore have not installed any of the Sparcworks
software.  We are also trying not to have any dependencies on
LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

We are getting a lot of warnings and errors compiling X, due to header
and c files not being found.  Some examples are attached at the end of
this message.

Someone must have successfully built X11R6 under this environment.
Could someone please clue me in to what is going on?  Surely Solaris
can't suck this badly.

We're in a crisis here, a prompt reply would be greatly appreciated.
