Post by hosea.ba.. » Tue, 28 Jun 2005 18:12:58

Hi. I am on solaris 8. Is it possible for me to limit user access to
specific printers? Example, i want user a, b to be able to print to
only printer_a and user c and d cant print to  printer_a

The closest i got is
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/805-3728/6j3hu2u14?q=limit+printer+a...

Please advise.

If printers are remote printers, then there is no way to limit access as
there is no /etc/lp/printers/<whatever>.  If printers are local or
remote, that directory exists and the method described in man lpadmin or
the "Limiting user access to a printer" section of docs.sun.com.

1. Samba: How to limit access to 1 PC or limited timeframe?

Hello!

Currently I am using Windows NT to handle domain logons for our local
network.  In time I would like to replace the NT-server by a Linux server.

I've been testing samba acting as a domain logon server for a while, and
it works great.  However, I need some specific functions only NT seems to
provide.

I have to limit the login of a user to 1 specific computer ("Logon to"
option in NT User Manager for Domains) and to a specific timeframe
("Hours" option in NT UM for Domain).

How can I do this with Samba?

Thanks a lot to anyone who helps me out!

Best Regards

Wim
