UUCP via TCP Sol 1.1 > 2.4 crashing

Post by Charl » Thu, 11 Jan 1996 04:00:00

I have a Solaris 1.1 machine sending a 1.5 mb file to a Solaris 2.4
machine via UUCP over TCP several times a day.

About once a day the in.uucpd on the 2.4 machine goes hay wire and starts
chewing up CPU cycles like mad and has to be killed.

Killing the in.uucpd on the 2.4 machine and letting the transfer start
again usually ends in successful completion.

Anyone else having similiar problems with UUCP over TCP?

I'm using a Solaris 2.5 box to transfer trivial amounts of email via
UUCP over TCP, and have been since before upgrading to 2.5; my system
polls a Solaris 2.x box...  No, I'm not having any such problem.

Perhaps you should turn up the debugging level and see what output you
get...

That's a problem, I have since SonOS 4.x. It is a bug in HDB UUCP
that lets  the cico process loop forever if under certain condition
a network error (BROKEN PIPE) occurs.

BSD UUCP does not have this problem.
