How to activate NTP in Solaris 2.6

Post by Dustin » Thu, 26 Feb 1998 04:00:00

Hello,

I understand NTP/XNTP (Network Time Protocol) is built-in to Solaris
2.6. I just want to find out how to activate it. The AnswerBook doesn't
help much. Do I just modifiy the config file??

Thanks in advance for your input!

If your network recieves multicast NTP packets, just run:
        ln -s ntp.client /etc/inet/ntp.conf

If not, make an /etc/inet/ntp.conf for your situation.

In either case, when the rc script sees that file exists, it will start
xntpd at bootup.

1. How do I activate aspppd in Solaris 2.6?

I have a Sparc 2 at home running Solaris 2.6, I follow the instructions
on configuring
aspppd, but I don't see how to activate it.  I reboot, and do a
"ifconfig -a", I see the
interface iptppd0 up, what is the next step?  Thank for your help.
