Solaris VTOC problem / partitionning

Hello,

Here is my VTOC table of a SunBlade 100 :

# prtvtoc /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s2
* /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s2 partition map
*
* Dimensions:
*     512 bytes/sector
*      63 sectors/track
*      16 tracks/cylinder
*    1008 sectors/cylinder
*   39535 cylinders
*   39533 accessible cylinders
*
* Flags:
*   1: unmountable
*  10: read-only
*
* Unallocated space:
*       First     Sector    Last
*       Sector     Count    Sector
*    12584880  27264384  39849263
*
*                          First     Sector    Last
* Partition  Tag  Flags    Sector     Count    Sector  Mount Directory
       0      2    00          0   6291936   6291935   /
       1      3    01    6291936   2097648   8389583
       2      5    00          0  39849264  39849263
       3      7    00    8389584   2097648  10487231   /var
       4      0    00   10487232   2097648  12584879   /tmp

It seems that a big part of the sector are unused from 12584880 to 39849263.
I'm a newbie. Can you help me please to add a slice with this free space?

If you can explain me how to add the part of sector that are unused in a new
slice it could be nice.

Thank you in advance

Alf

Maybe

A careful read of "man format" is a suggestion.
You should be able to add a 5th partition starting at
sector 12584880 and then newfs it assuming your version of Solaris
can deal with a 20 GB IDE disk : >.

Also, is partition 4 really mounted as /tmp ?? If so whatever for?

Just run the format command.

Select partition
hit 5 to change partition 5 and follow the prompts.

Then write the label

then run newfs /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s5

done!

you can use format command and use this space for some new partition.
command sequence is : format > disk selection > print > partition .
Man format would give you more details.

Thank you for your answers.
Here is the result of my format/partition/print command.
I don't understand why I haven't 13Gb free on partition 5 from cylinder
12485 to 39532.
Have you some idea?

Thank you again in advance
