Dont know what I am looking at...

Hi,I have been given that task of setting up a local sun station that
was screwed from the previous system admin. I have little experience
in the admin area. I have installed Solaris 7 on the system. There are
two hard drives connected to the machine now. One is a 207 MB and the
other is a 4.2 GB. Once Solaris 7 was installed I attempted to install
the WS compiler C/C++. It tries to install it in the /opt. There is no
room for it. There is only 55 MB available for use. I really cant seem
to find the other drive. I was going to just create a new directory and
put it in there, but cant find any room and with the other drive
sitting there and knowing it was available previously, I know I am
doing something wrong. My question is, how do I access the larger
drive, does it need to be set up some way. Below is the results of a df
command, maybe I just dont know what I am looking at.

#df
/proc    (/proc        ):           0 Blocks        1865 files
/        (/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 ): 130268 Blocks       48530 files
/usr     (/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6 ): 229280 Blocks      153985 files
/dev/fd  (fd                ):      0 Blocks           0 files
/export/home (/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s7 ):  2847884 Blocks  359164 files
/tmp         (swap              ):   422480 Blocks   21548 files
/cdrom/devpro_v6n1_spar(/vol/dev/dsk/c0t6d0/devpro_v6n1_sparc):
0 Blocks              0 filesThanks,JF

You certainly can see only one disk here, and this is a bigger one,
you can notice that /export/home is almost 1.5 gb (each block
is 512 bytes). Therefore, I'd presume that there is still
some space left under /export/home, and (as a quick-and-dirty fix)
you can install the compiler there (it should ask you where
you want it). A more elegant solution IMHO would be to re-install
the system once again reserving more space in / or making /opt
a separate partition with sufficient space.

Alternatively, you can move the contents of /opt to the second
disk which should be known to the system as cXtYd0sZ where
X, Y and Z are the numbers of controller, SCSI ID and slice(s),
correspondigly. You can re-slice this disk the way you like,
create the filesystem for /opt and mount it by hand or arrange
for automatic mounting to at boottime.

Before doing any changes, I'd recommend to read man pages for
the following commands:

format
newfs
mount
vfstab
cpio (or ufsdump and ufsrestore).

Andrey
