Can someone give this a crack, I've had no luck/help for a week now.
Thanks.

I'm compiling apache 1.3.22 with ssl (openssl installed and working) on a
Solaris 8 platform.  Configure works fine, then 'make' fails part way
through
with the following error:

<=== src/modules/standard
===> src/modules/ssl
make: Fatal error: Don't know how to make target `../../include/alloc.h'
Current working directory /var/tmp/apache_1.3.22/src/modules/ssl
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all'
Current working directory /var/tmp/apache_1.3.22/src/modules
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `subdirs'
Current working directory /var/tmp/apache_1.3.22/src
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `build-std'
Current working directory /var/tmp/apache_1.3.22
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `build'

I don''t know what to do from here.  I'm compiling as root, here are my env
settings:
alias ls="ls -F"
stty erase ^H
PS1='($PWD)-->'
DISPLAY=gary:0
CC=gcc
PATH=${PATH}:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/etc:/usr/dt/bin:/opt/sf
w/bin:/usr/ccs/bin:/usr/local/ssl/bin:/opt/SUNWicg/SunScreen/bin:/$QTDIR/bin
:/usr/local/samba/bin:.
QTDIR=/usr/local/qt
#LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:/usr/lib:/usr/local/ssl/lib:
MANPATH=/usr/man:/usr/local/man:/usr/local/ssl/man:/opt/SUNWicg/SunScreen/ma
n:/$QTDIR/doc/man:/opt/ipf/man:/usr/local/samba/man:
#LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/ssl/lib -L/usr/local/lib"
#CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/ssl/include -I/usr/local/include"
export PATH PS1 MANPATH DISPLAY CC LD_LIBRARY_PATH LDFLAGS CPPFLAGS QTDIR

Please help, I'm lost.

1) take this up in a programming group like comp.unix.programmer
2) what does the Apache project support crew say?
3) why are you doing an ugly thing like building software under /var/tmp?

-wiseguy
Recursion is such a deep concept.

Are you trying to compile with mod_ssl?  www.modssl.org you will find a
pretty good ssl package for Apach 1.3.20 - 23.  I would also make sure you
have perl 5.6.1 from source installed!! And, I would also install mod_perl
(just in case you wish to use it sometime down the road), mm, flex, and all
the other stuff mod_ssl and OpenSSL require and recommend.
