Need .logout replacement for CDE environment

Post by Peter Schwen » Thu, 12 Feb 1998 04:00:00

Hello,

We've got some users that were used to using the .logout (tcsh being
used) file for cleaning up after themselves when logging out, but this
doesn't work when using CDE because the tcsh is not their login shell.
Is there a good method that people can use sorta built into the
CDE environment for deleting files and doing other cleanup stuff when
logging out?  I'd appreciate any help that you could give me.

From CDE documentation,

To Execute Additional Commands at Logout

A companion file to sessionetc is sessionexit. Use sessionexit to perform some
operation at session exit that is not handled by Session Manager.

1.Create the file HomeDirectory/.dt/sessions/sessionexit containing the
commands.

Like sessionetc, this file is usually a script with execute permission.

1. A replacement for Openwin Command Tool in Sunz CDE environment?

Hello  folks!!

I have many users  who somehow have bonded and become one with the
old, the faithful,  and the openwinnish  Command Tool.  It has served
them many a good deal across  the ageless wates of yester year,  if
not just yesterday.

In short - it worked.

Now our SunFolk  bring upon us a decree that openwin will be lost to
us forever on our network, cast into the misty fogs of yester year,
whence went Apple 2, PC DOS,  and Wordstar.

In short -  no more openwin.

But LO!! Wait!   surely some unknown soul, laboring in the dark
server places,  fighting the forces of entropy, evil,  and Soda
deprivation,  has either written some wonderous and truly  marvelous
application to replace it,  or has fiddled with a script to configure
some product or products into a new manifestation of command tool
except in the CDE domain!??

In short -  anyone have an idea as to a replacement?  My own was an
xterm tool that used a log and some definitions to act like command
tool.    I was hoping to see if someone had a more refined version.
Please?

Mny  thanks in advance for your help!!
