NFS problem

I have a new install of Solaris 10.  I'm not exactly a unix admin, but
I can make my way around.  I added a NFS share in the DFSTAB file just
as I have in Solaris 8 and 9.  When I run 'shareall' or even when I go
through the Management Console to add a share, I get the error
"share_nfs: /shareddirectory: Operation not applicable"  I then
realized that not all the daemons are running.  I ran 'nfs.server
start', but for some reason this did not start anything.  I manually
started nfsd and mountd, but this was no help.  No matter what I get
the Operation not applicable error when running trying to share a
directory.  Any idea???  If requesting information, please give
details.  As I said, I can get around Unix, but I'm not quite to the
Unix guru level.  Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I'm a newbie to Solaris 10 also, but one of the things that changed with
10 was that a lot of the "services" get started using a new service
manager.  I'm thinking that NFS is probably one of these services, so
you'd have to start it using something like "svcadm".  I think you can
list the services using "svcs".

1. NFS Problems... "Unknown NFS client"

Hi!

I have just installed Slackware 2.3 and I'm trying to use NFS
with a Sun.

I can mount drives on the Sun, but the Sun can't mount drives on my
Linux box. I have stripped the /etc/exports file to include only:

/usr/local    *.my.domain(ro)

Yet, I receive messages like this in the syslog on the Linux box:

mount[49]: Unknown NFS client 191.214.xxx.yyy tried to access /usr/local

I have DNS working, and I have tried to put the Sun in my /etc/hosts
file to no avail...

Anyone know what could be wrong?!

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
   Fredrik Lindgren
