Num Lock key locks dtwm

Post by Laxman Gajb » Sat, 09 Aug 1997 04:00:00

I have solaris 2.5 and it looks like whenever I press Num Lock
key Workspace Manager hangs. After resetting Num Lock it starts
working again.

xmodmap has following mapping,

$ xmodmap -pke | grep Num

keycode 77 = Num_Lock

Any suggestion ?

I'm in the process of configuring 36 Ultras for end users and to solve
this problem I xmodmap the Num Lock key away.  Then map the numeric
keys to numbers so they always are numbers.

A program called xkeycaps can make life a lot easier.  I can't remember
the exact ftp site for it, some place at Netscape.

This is a known bug, I dont know if there is a patch available yet
or not.

We saw something like this.  We were able to trace the cause to
a bad xmodmap I created.  Seems whenever someone used the copy/paste/
and other left function keys it would change the state of the numlock
key.  If you can find the right combination of keys you pressed,
it would start working again.  Otherwise, the exit button on the
launch pad still works, it will log out out of course.

Once I fixed the xmodmap, the problem went away.
