FTP "reget" function

Post by shawn Andre » Tue, 25 Jun 1996 04:00:00

Hi everybody,

Thanks for the replies I got by mail concerning the dos mounting
filesystem . I got a problem concerning FTP .
I successfully used the ftp shipped with solaris to do anonymous
ftp .. My problem a the moment is that the client ftp does not support
the reget function available on most unix ftp clients ..
How do you all go about this . Does any one know where I can get
an ftp client which supports the reget function cause for most of us out
there whose only connection to the internet is through a modem , after
downloading about 8mb of a file and only having 10kb left , say you lose
your connection . Without this function life is indeed hard ..

        Thanks

The NcFTP client can reget files which have only partially downloaded.
It also maintains a bookmark list of sites you visit.
You can get the latest version from ftp.probe.net/pub/ncftp
...and it is FREEware!

1. FTP "reget" on Solaris_2.5x86

Hi ,
First I must say I have never seen a news group increase so
fast like this one does . I mean its just as fast as an irc channel .
Hey has any one got any idea of irc channels out there with solaris
users ..?

My question is with ftp . I didnt take the wu-ftpd cause the
one shipped with solaris_2.5x86 works just fine even for anonymous ftp
and I dont need logging . What is missing however is the "reget function
I mean after downloading some file for about 1 hour and with just 2kb
left say you lose the telephone connection . Normally with the other
ftp clients "from BSD or LINUX" you can do a "reget or reput .." however
with the ftp client shipped with solaris this is not in .
How does one go about this . Any help on where to get another
ftp client with this function will be great .. Thanks ..

PS: Thanks alot to all those who replied me with the dos mount
problem I had . "The reason I wouldnt mount the dos disks on
solaris_2.5x86 is that they now require you to give in a letter for the
drive for example ... mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/c0t0d0p0:c /mnt ..
