 Try:

102125-02: SunOS 5.4: Audio device driver jumbo patch

I think you can make it work by first playing something with audiotool.
But with the patch it works without fail.

No sound with doom on SS5

Post by Filip Vandamm » Wed, 29 Nov 1995 04:00:00

Hello Solaris fans,

In all the e*ment and trills to actually get this game up
on an SS5, I was wondering what I could have overlooked to have
sound working.

1) I put sndserver and sundgadoom in /usr/local/bin (so its in
   my
path alright).

2) I updated .doomrc, so that the sndserver entry has "/usr/local
/bin/sndserver"

Yet, not the slightest chirp of a bird. Also, when I quit the
game
in the correct way with ESC, Q, Y(es), the sndserver keeps on
exis-
ting. Moreover, restarting the game launches a new sndserver.

Completely mistified about what is going wrong, I'm highly appre-
ciating any help.

Cheers,

Filip

Hey - at least you're doing better than I am... I get sound but no
Window:

X Error of failed request:  BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request:  1 (X_CreateWindow)
Serial number of failed request:  10
Current serial number in output stream:  29

Anyway, has anyone ever encountered this?

1. No sound with DOOM on ss5

Sun DOOM is terrific.  I'd really like to thank Dave Taylor and
everyone else who made it possible.  Now my problem...

I have an SS5 running Solaris 2.4 at home.  I don't get any sound from
Doom.  I can use audioplay to play sounds fine, so I know that at
least works.  I have "." in my path and running ps shows "sndserver"
running when sunxdoom or sundgadoom (the problem occurs with either)
is run.

Sound seems to work fine at work on ss5, ss10, ss20 machines all of
which run Solaris 2.3.  Is there something with Doom + Solaris 2.4
that I'm running into here?
