NIS+/Solaris2.6: telnet connection refused

NIS+/Solaris2.6: telnet connection refused

Post by Arnaud Fevrier (No » Sat, 12 Sep 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

I  have a connection  problem.  I am  running   solaris 2.6 with  all
recommended  patches.  I installed   NIS+.   I have a   collection  of
PC-Redhat 5.1 running NIS+ clients.

when I try to telnet from a PC to the sun I get the following
message:

telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

I have an even bigger problem with my apache server: the server is
running fine, but I can't connect to it from any host I know (even
from outside my domain).

The NIS+ seems to be running fine: I may log in whatever machine, I
can niscat every table.

The clocks settings are the same, so I am in the 3mn window.

 Who can help me ?

 Thanks

NIS+/Solaris2.6: telnet connection refused

Hello,

This is a well know Bug with my Linux NIS+ client support. On the RedHat 5.1
PCs, change the services line in /etc/nsswitch.conf to:
services: files

Don't use NIS+ for it. If I find the time, I will search the reason for
this.

Linux is like a Vorlon.  It is incredibly powerful, gives terse,
cryptic answers and has a lot of things going on in the background.
