Indeed.  That was a bug in 2.1 and the bug was fixed in 2.2 or 2.3

Upgrading is the only way out.

Timezone and rsh - 2.1 vs 2.3

I have access to two SPARCstation LXs, one (a) running Solaris 2.1 and
the other (b) running 2.3. A date command on either machine gives me the
local (ie, NZ) date. However, there are differences in the rsh
behaviour. An rsh from LXa to LXb gives me a local date, but an rsh from
LXb to LXa gives me a GMT date. Why? Both machines have /etc/TIMEZONE
with TZ set to NZ, but it seems that the TZ environment variable is not
set for an rsh on the Solaris 2.1 machine.

1. Upgrade from 2.1 directly to 2.3 or just install 2.3

I have a classic running 2.1 can directly upgrade to 2.3 or must I go 2.1->2.2->2.3
or again should I just install 2.3, I spent some time getting my disk partitions
nice for me and don't wish to go through this headache again.

Also any help on the "best" way to do this would be most appreciated
