XFree86-2.0 has a decent S3 driver. Has anyone attempted to port it to
Solaris-x86, and if so, what sort of problems are there? I heard from
the XFree86 people that Solaris-x86 was not supported, but I was not sure
why or to what extent...

The best way to get XFree86-2.0 to work with the S3 board and Solaris is
to join in on the porting effort.

1. Solaris 2.1, X86, S3-video, pmi
Im running the onboard S3 graphic-accelerator on Dell 486/ME.
This configures the display according to parameters in
"/usr/openwin/etc/vesa/i8514/dellm43.pmi".
Unfortunatly this makes the display very low(vertically) and
wide(horisontaly). The picture also seems to be interlaced.
Even if this is not stated in the configurationfile dellm43.pmi.
So my guess is, to write an other configuration file. Comming
from the XFree386 world(As I do), it is something completely
different.
Does there exist some documentation about the "pmi" files??
Or is the some simpler way??
