Solstice DiskSuite 4.1 Patch

Solstice DiskSuite 4.1 Patch

Post by Martin Arl » Fri, 10 Jul 1998 04:00:00

Hello,

I got the patch no. 104172-09 for Solstice DiskSuite 4.1 from the SUN
patch server. But I can't patch the product - the script exits in
the dryrun mode with the following error:

pkgadd: ERROR: duplicate pathname </usr/opt/SUNWmd>
pkgadd: ERROR: duplicate pathname </usr/opt/SUNWmd/sbin>
pkgadd: ERROR: unable to process pkgmap

Does anybody have the same problem? How can I get information,
if I need this patch for DiskSuite 4.1?

Thanks a lot for any suggestion.

Martin

Had the same problem.  Sun told me to mv the .diPatch to a different
filename(.diorig).  This fixed the problem.  Kind of Cheezy, huh?

This is a known bug (id 4137924).
Edit 104172-09/SUNWmdg/pkgmap and change permissions for usr/opt/SUNWmd
and  usr/opt/SUNWmd/sbin from 775 to 755.

I had some problems also with this patch. Something about the
install script is not working properly. I was told there is an
existing bugID open on it that will be fixed in revision 10 of
the patch. In the meantime, to hack around it I did the following:

Try to install the patch as usual. It will fail in the way you
see above, but *part* of the system will think it's installed.
Then, go into the part of the directory tree where the packages
are (SUNWmd, etc) and do a "pkgadd -d ." It will completely
replace the disksuite binaries. Not only that, but for some reason
this also updates the rest of the system and shows the patch as
completely installed. When you do a "showrev -p" at this point,
the patch should show up as having been installed.

You have to do this from /tmp as root.

1. On-Line DiskSuite 3.0 to Solstice DiskSuite 4.1 upgrade problem.

Does anyone tried to upgrade from On-Line
DiskSuite 3.0 to Solstice DiskSuite 4.0 ? After
the upgrade all concatinated partitions or so
called stripped volumes were okay, but mirrored
stripped volumes are write-protected!!!! So any
attempt to write to submirror caused to the
System's reboot!
Upgrade was accomplished on SunOS 5.6.

Thanks for help.
Sincerely,
Oleg Waisberg
