raid event messages

Post by Kalpesh Pari » Sat, 31 Aug 2002 01:03:07

I am getting few 'raid event' messages everyday like the following
as mail to "root" :

--------------------------
From: root (Super-User)
Message-Id: <.. ...info delelted.........>
To: root
Subject: raid Event
Content-Length: 181

An array event has been detected on Controller 1T94500323
Device c2t5d3 at Host <HostName> - Time 08/26/2002 09:39:55

Go to the Message Log in the Status Application for details
--------------------------

All of them have different Device # (c2t5d3, c4t1d3, ...)
like that.  How do I resolve this ?  It does seem like it
is related to hardware, but want to find out how do I
diagnose the device which has a problem.  Any help
will be appreciated.  Please give suggestions if you can.
We are using storeEdge RAID on E4500 system running
Solaris 2.7.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Kalpesh

Most probably these messages should show up in the messages file. If
you could post them, maybe I could try.

Start rm6 gui and look there. There are also command line utility
called logutil for inspecting the log file but it often prints
misleading results.

You should find in /var/adm/messages more information about the message
(Sense keys, ASC / ASCQ)
You should find in /var/osa/rmlog.log (which is not "human-readable") a more
detailled description of the event.

What are ASC/ASCQ you received ?

Use RM 6 GUI to check your config. To get a good summary  : Save Module
Profile
Or use the following commands (which result is contained in the Module
Profile) :
(in /usr/lib/osa/bin)
healthck -a
lad
drivutil [-i | -l ]
raidutil -c ... [-i | -B]
