Q: gcc v2.8.0 on solaris v2.5.1

Post by Joey Mukherj » Fri, 30 Jan 1998 04:00:00

Has anyone here who is using gcc v2.8.0 on Solaris v2.5.1 has any problems
with it?  We are trying to use purify on some applications and we get the
following errors printed out:

Purify engine: Warning: Found untested reloc type R_SPARC_GOT10 at location
0x1484 (section 2), apparently pointing to offset 0x2c.

We get quite a few of these...

We've had other problems as well, and was wondering if others were in the
same boat...

Thanks!

Joey

A 486-DX2 66 is rather underpowered for Solaris, and also
you will probably do much better with SCSI disks.
(Both points from personal experience.)

Linux boots very quickly - no SVR4 comes even close.
On the other hand, I don't find myself booting Solaris very
much - our UPS powered system runs for months, and I have
even added new disks and tape drives and brought them into
service without having to reboot.
