dp-4.0, pseudo tty pairs and wampes

Post by hans maye » Thu, 02 Sep 1999 04:00:00

hi all !

i have tried to set up dp-4.0 ( dial up ppp ) on sparc
with solaris 2.5.1 over a pseudo tty pair, for example ttypf/ptypf
i thought, i can use a tty pair, creating an ip-interface in unix and
on the "other site" listening wampes ( it's a ham radio software )
and so, going over the interface through wampes reaching the
ax.25 packet radio network.

but it doesn't work !
i have to see, that the "first" of the pair ( ttypf ) can
be modified by ioctl() but the other end ( ptypf ) isn't
able to do any ioctl's

and both programms want to do any ioctl() on the configured
device and as well written programms the check the result
of ioctl() and if it fails they close() the device

any ideas how to create a pseudo ip-interface connecting
to wampes ? wampes itself works fine. anybody out there, who
installed such a "default" gateway to wampes within the
unix kernel.

i checked ppp-2.3.5, but i found nothing about slip
and wampes does support slip only.
