how to find the date of a tape backup

how to find the date of a tape backup

Post by krma.. » Thu, 21 Dec 2000 02:06:42

I have a strange problem. One of my clients have around 200 tapes which
is archieved in Legato. But those tapes are not  labeled correctly. How
can he find the date at which the tapes are archived. By reading the
tape header and manipulating the  data , can I find the timestamp.

Do anyone have a ready-made program for this.

Any tips will be  greatly appreciated.
 Thanks

Legato should do this for you.

Simply mounting the tape will display the Legato label.  You could then
replace the physical label to be correct.

Running 'scanner' on the tape (probably as scanner -inv
/dev/rmt/<drive>) would also give you most of the information.
