I've been told that the bundled Solstice PPP 3.0.1 in the Solaris 7 Server
Easy Access package will not work with Solaris 7 in 64-bit mode. Is anyone
currently running Solstice PPP 3.0.1 on Solaris 7 in 64-bit mode (I'm
talking Sparc hardware, not x86)?
One of our engineers tried installing Solstice PPP 3.0.1 (bundled with
Solaris 2.6 Server) on a Solaris 7 64-bit OS (on an Ultra 5). He said he
got errors when he tried to establish the connection he had configured. He
had to drop back to the 32-bit incarnation of Solaris 7, and then
reinstalled Solstice PPP 3.0.1 ....then it worked for him.
I've talked to Sun engineers and they say that the Solstice PPP 3.0.1 should
work just fine on 64-bit Solaris 7.
So...
Is Solstice PPP 3.0.1 (purchased separately) the same as Solstice PPP 3.0.1
(bundled in Solaris 2.6 server) and the same as Solstice PPP 3.0.1 (bundled
in Solaris 7 server)???
What are your experiences with this combination?
