Yes, the documentation AND Sun support say it IS supported, and that I
should be able to install using a serial port (ttya) as console. However,
the system seems to continue to try to ignore the fact that both the
eeprom AND the kernel now say the internal framebuffer/keyboard is NOT in
use and hang when checking the non-existant keyboard.
