ufsdump: Lost connection

ufsdump: Lost connection

Post by CISS TDI Gm » Thu, 18 Jul 1996 04:00:00

Hello,
I have the following problem on a Ultra Sparc 1 running Solaris 2.5:

When trying ufsdump/ufsrestore remote to an AIX 3.2.5 System i get the
following error message:
DUMP: Lost Connection

I am working as root, rsh works fine from SUN to IBM, but not from IBM to
 SUN. (Not on console)
But I think one way is enough.

Has anybody a solution for this problem ?

What is root's TERM setting configured to on the console?
Try changing it.

1. ufsdump on solaris to aix fails (connection lost)

Hello there,

I'm trying to backup a SUN solaris (v5.7) system to a DAT streamer attached
to an RS6000 running AIX (v4.3). Remote shell commands  do work and ufsdump
allmost.
The backup command I give (on the solaris) is :

ufsdump 0f artour:/dev/rmt0 /

The backup starts and then fails due to a connection lost to remote server.

The command (on Solaris machine) : rsh artour mt -f /dev/rmt0 rewind
does work allight, so it has something to do with rmt (on the AIX I assume).

Does anyone has an idea what is wrong, what I forgot, etc?

Thanks in advance.

Sjoerd
