Post by L » Thu, 30 Aug 2001 21:09:59

I have SUN L9 tape driver connect to SUN 280.  Currently, I have problem
can NOT unload tape cartridge from L9.  I have been tried following
procedures still not work:

  % mt -f /dev/rst27 offl
/dev/rst27: no tape loaded or drive offline

I press unload button and LED green light blinking forever.

I power off/on and redo the procedures still same.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks.

Call Sun. It sounds like more than a simple software problem.

Exabytes do this way too much.  I have found that holding the unload button
down for 5 to 10 seconds sometimes forces the tape to be ejected.  Maybe this
will work with your tape drive.
