nmap uses ipaddr2devname to figure out what interface to use

either specify your device using "-e" like: "nmap -e pcelx0" or
"nmap -e hme0"
or possibly setting up a /etc/hostname.*interface* might work

hi;

Thanks !

It was the missing -e iprb0 argument. I was fooled by some code in libpcap which iterates through the
device list to pick a
default interface. It does it the wrong way (pointing to Loopback).

1. nmap 3.7x on Solaris 9

Has anyone else had problem running nmap 3.70 or 3.75 on Solaris 9?

I've tried compiling it on several machines with the same results.   The
compile and install goes fine.  When I attempt to run it it starts the scan,
then the process sleeps (according to truss), but never returns any output
or comes back from the sleeping state.

I have no problems with nmap 3.55
