Do you plan to release x86 Solaris version? If you do not have
Intel resources we are ready to help you in porting.

From the FAQ part of the on-line help:

[Q] Will asWedit be supported on my Solaris x86/Unixware/FreeBSD/NetBSD/XYZ
    platform ?  Can I help ?
[A] Unfortunately, we do not have such a system in house.
Note that the source code is NOT available to third parties and we will
reject any kind offers to recompile the program (sorry).
We might accept a donation of a full development system to port the
program to your platform. If you are in a position to consider this
option please send E-mail to Andrzej at:

Sorry again.

I have a SparcStation 10 running Solaris 2.4 and CDE.
Most of the colors needed by asWedit are not available when I want to
start it.
I am sure this isn't a problem of asWedit but it stops me from evaluating
asWedit.

Does anyone know how to solve this.

This means your colormap is full. To remedy this kill any app (ie
netscape) that takes up a lot of colors. You could also change the
number of colors used by CDE from the style manager.

From the on-line FAQ (Program startup):

[Q] Upon startup, I get a large number of messages that say
Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "xxxxx"
where xxxxx is a specific color. What's wrong ?
[A] Are you using Netscape Navigator (Netscape) or other graphics programs
that require a lot of colors ?
Netscape can be quite demanding on colors (especially if you view
    colorful pages ...).
    The possible solutions are:
    1. Start asWedit before Netscape.
    2. Start Netscape and tell it to use a private colormap, i.e. start it as:
        netscape -install
After this *all* other programs still can use the default colormap.
Note that you might see unpleasant colormap flashing when
switching between applications using different colormaps.
    3. Limit the number of colors Netscape will allocate from the default
colormap using '-ncols' command option when Netscape is started
(note that value 0 tells Netscape to allocate as many colors it can
       get!).
To see all possible command options start Netscape with the "-help"
flag (the same goes for asWedit).

Try the above solutions and choose the best one for your setup.
BTW, the default colors for asWedit HTML color tags have been chosen for
displays using Gamma correction (on our displays we use Gamma between 1.4
and 1.7).

Are you, by any chance, running netscape along with asWedit?  Netscape
uses quite a lot of colors......try running "netscape -install".  That,
however will lead to colormap flashing.  You could also try limiting
the number of colors Netscape uses, by using the  "netscape -ncols 64"
for instance.

Hope this helps,
Shash

asWedit is a little color happy IMHO. If you look at the app-defaults file
for it you'll find the color list. Simply reduce the number of separate
colors it uses there. That may help

It is really the best editor I've used.
