We're seeing a wierd* problem, ftping from solaris 2.7 and 7
boxes, to an NT box running mcirosoft ftp server 4.0
About a quarter of the time you do "ls", or "dir", it hangs.
The odd thing is, the remote side seems to send the listing, AND a
226 Transfer complete
message. But the sun side only displays the directory listing. It
never gives the prompt back.
'snoop' tells me that the remote side is sending the "Transfer complete"
message. And the client box even seems to send a blank reply. eg:
ftp.client.com -> ftp3 FTP R port=33017 226 Transfer complet
ftp3 -> ftp.client.com FTP C port=33017
But the sun client doesnt finish.
I decided to try a different client. So I used ncftp on the solaris box.
Same problem!
Unfortunately, we dont control the external FTP box, so switching the NT
server is not an option. And oddly, I can try this from an HP unix box,
without this problem.
