Which modem to buy for Sun altra 10 running solaris 2.6?

Post by Nan T » Thu, 13 Aug 1998 04:00:00

Hi:
I am a Windows user. I posted a message days ago asking information
about the installation of the modem on a Sun Altra 10 running solaris
2.6. There are many emails and helps. Thanks.
Now, I will need to buy a V.90 modem to install. Whick modem to buy? I
am looking at the 3Com. v.90 56K .
http://www.3com.com/client/pcd/products/prod-56K.html. But there is no
information on their page if they support Solaris. I suppose that when I
buy a modm, it should come with a driver or sort that will run under
Solaris .
Expert, please help by sending me a email
Thanks ahead.
Regards

Hi,

I've used USR 14.4, 28.8 and 56K modems with a sparc 5, an ultra 5 and
an E-3000.  They should work fine for you.  Courier modems also work well.
(Just make sure you put the modem on Serial B, because serial A is used
for a console)

Chris

1. Large disk drives with Solaris 2.6 on a Sun Ultra 10

I am trying to get Solaris 2.6 to format a 45GB  Western Digital
WD450AA. It looks like I
ended up with 8GB instead of 45 GB. Is it possible to format large
disks with Solaris 2.6. Comeone said I may have to upgrade to Solaris
8.
