Try Veritas Netbackup or Sun's own product Solstice Backup (check product
name as I'm not sure exactly what
its called).

If you are using Veritas Netbackup that should do everything for you.  You
can also eject the tapes directly from the DLT.

If it is a L1000 library, it is a relabeled ATL unit.  Search the net and I
think you may find some programs to help you.  If they say that they can
control an ATL unit then you are on your way.

you will want a driver for the robot, ie, a scsi driver for
the robot.  stctl is free.  i have a version i modified
to support bar codes, but i can't post it yet.  and it will
be a while before i can get to it.  stctl as it exists right
now comes with a basic command line program to do such
stuff.

1. Control a Tape Library Robot?

I would like to be able to control the robot in a
tape library from the shell or a script file.
The tape library (SCSI) is made by Ecrix and the
tech support lady I talked to didn't have a clue how to do it.

I'm looking for commands (maybe SCSI) to unload a tape
and put it in a particular slot and remove a tape from
a slot and load it into the drive.

Any ideas?
