Is the sticky bit set on /tmp?

After I upgrade a machine from 2.3 to 2.5, openwin failed.  This machine
is a sparc20 w/64 meg memory and ZX graphic.  The error message appeared
whenever I tried to run openwin:

Create unix socket: permission denied.

Server error:
Cannot establish unix listening socket.

/tmp permission is 777, so is /tmp/.X11-unix.  Different users get the same
result.  Only root was able to run openwin w/o this message.  I rebooted
the machine couple times but no luck.  Any suggestion before I do a
initial installation?

>/tmp permission is 777, so is /tmp/.X11-unix.  Different users get the same

This is not the cause of your problem, but this deserves mention anyhow:

Mode 777 is insecure for /tmp; it leaves files vulnerable to
unauthorized deletion and provides a way for one to comprimise system
security with the ps(1) command.  /tmp and other temporary directories
should be mode 1777.

I reinstall 2.5 using initial installation option.  Everthing works fine
after that.  Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.  The cure is NOT
to use the upgrade option when upgrading from Solaris 2.3 to 2.5.

1. /usr/openwin/lib/fs.auto under Solaris 2.5?

Under Solaris 2.5, the /etc/inetd.conf file contains the following entry:

#
# Sun Font Server
#
fs  stream  tcp  wait  nobody  /usr/openwin/lib/fs.auto  fs

which looks vaguely like it might be intended to start up an X font server
on demand.  I can't find an fs.auto in the /usr/openwin/lib directory, or
anywhere else in the openwin tree, however.  Am I just missing something?
Is there an optional package that needs to be installed to get fs.auto?

In any case, having a line in inetd.conf to listen on port 7100 when the
program you want to start up there is missing is just plain broken, since
it prevents you from starting any other font server on port 7100 yourself.
